A woman has been arrested over a strawberry contamination in Australia after several needles were found hidden inside the fruit, police have said.
The arrest of the 50-year-old follows a “complex” investigation by Queensland Police along with multiple law enforcement and intelligence agencies after the punnets were found in several Aussie states.
Queensland authorities notified the public of the safety risk after the needles were found in several punnets on September 12.
The Uk Sun reports that, it is believed the contamination of strawberries hit five states in Australia including Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and South Australia.
The woman is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, Queensland Police have said.
The arrest comes after a mum claimed she found needles hidden inside strawberries bought at a supermarket in New South Wales in September.
