‘Mad Oh’ by Naira Marley Adopted Into Urban Dictionary
‘Mad Oh’ a Nigerian phrase coined by rave and controversial singer Naira Marley, has been adopted into the Urban Dictionary.
The phrase which was adopted in December 27th, 2019, was described as “An expression of surprise, shock or astonishment often caused by something unexpected or mind blowing. It can be used as an adjective in some cases.”
It went on to explain the dynamic ways the phrase could be used.
“Mad oh is very dynamic hence, it is also a valid/sarcastic reply to any statement whatsoever.
“In cases where you are tired of a conversation, Mad Oh will do a lot of good because of its conversation terminating abilities,” the dictionary explained.
The term has been widely accepted in parts of Nigeria and since the ‘creator’ Naira Marley, has a large fan base, it has been widely in use.
Recently, Nigeria hosted American rapper and superstar, Cardi B, who also used the phrase express herself.
Naira Marley, by some, is considered a menace in the society but for others, he is a demi-god.
The singer has been in and out of court as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have accused the singer a cybercrimes and identity theft.
The singer pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Meanwhile, a court in Lagos dismissed a car theft case against the singer.
