Early Life And Background
Tony Umez was born on 23rd August 1964 in Ogidi, Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. The prominent actor who is currently 53 years old is the son of a Nigeria man who hails from Ogidi in Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria while his mother on the other hand is from Cross River State.
Today, Tony Umez is labelled among the most respected actor and he is widely elevated for his ability to interpretation of movie roles. He is that one actor that doesn’t reject any movie role except if the role is not conventional to our culture and ways of life . He is a God fearing christian because he was brought up in a strict christian family and he is making sure his children are brought up in that same atmosphere without any external pressure to lure them astray.
EDUCATION
Tony Umez had his primary and secondary school education in Lagos State and he was able to obtain his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate. Just after sitting for West African Senior School Certificate (WAEC), he took JAMB and came out with a flying colours . He proceeded to University of Lagos where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language. After bagging that degree, he went back to obtained a Master’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy.
After his Master’s Degree, his focus was to secure a job with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but unfortunately there was an embargo on employment so he couldn’t get a job with the Ministry.
Career And Success
Umez started his acting from his secondary school days where he performed on stage play and drama alongside his class mates. He launched his professional acting career in the year 1993 and joined Nollywood.
According to him, he didn’t get any money from his first two movies which made him took a short break from acting. He gained fame after after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Died Wretched” in 1994 , a top rated movie that brought him to limelight and earned him a nomination for “Best New Act to Watch at the Africa Movie Academy Awards”. He was buried in a Casket worth N2.3 million in the popular movie, that was where Nollywood movie lovers started looking out for him.
After taking a short break from acting, Tony returned to the industry in 1997 and featured in the movie, ‘The Princess’ . He become very famous and highly sought-after after starring in the movie, ‘Died wretched’ which gave him his massive success.

PERSONAL LIFE
Tony Umez is married to the love of his life Patsy Ogochukwu, they tied the knot on the 16th of November 1999. They met on a movie set in 1994. The union is currently blessed with 4 beautiful kids namely Beautiful Umez, Angel Umez, Princess Umez and Golden-Michelle Umez.
Tony met Patsy in a movie set when he was invited by a friend to play a lead role with her in this movie titled, ‘Karanja.’ In the movie, he played Mr Pascal while his wife-to-be played the role of Mrs Pascal. Tony revealed that he instantly fell in love with the beautiful woman as a result of her exceptional display of talent . She was able to interpret the role given to her which threw him off his feet.
One of the sad moment in Tony’s life was when he lost his mother. In 2013, Tony Umez lost his beloved mother and he made the announcement via his Facebook page. Fast forward to 2014, Tony was heavily criticized for featuring in the soft-pórnographic movie titled “Room 027” and many fans were highly disappointed about this movie.
However, during an interview with the media, the actor confessed that he regret ever accepting such role but it has already been done and can’t undo it. He is currently one of the most sought after Nollywood actor as well as one of the wealthiest.

He was coming back from a movie location at night at about 1.30 a.m and he saw the headlight of a motorcycle. He was punched in the face by one of the robbers and they took his stuffs which include mobile phones, chains, wristwatch and the money . His fear was that they were after his car but fortunately for him they didn’t need his car.
