#TributeToDagrin: Dagrin – Pon Pon Pon (Video)

Today, Amebo9ja.com remembers one of Nigeria’s street icons, Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, popularly known as Dagrin.

Da Grin, born October 25 1987 was one of the few pioneer indigenous rappers to make that genre mainstream, which paved the way for other street acts like YBNL boss, Olamide to thrive on.

Sadly, yesterday was Da Grin’s posthumous birthday and we have decided to take you guys down memory lane with the release of one of his groundbreaking hits titled “Pon Pon Pon”.

Dagrin’s single “Pon Pon Pon” has some cultural significance, it talks about the life style in Lagos, Agege, Ifewara, Mushin, Ikeja, Surulere, Isale Eko, and many other parts of south western Nigeria where life in the slums mixes up with life in the affluent cities and parts of Lagos Nigeria.

We at Amebo9ja.com celebrate your contributions to the growth of the Nigerian music industry.

Enjoy
