He was born into a large, polygamous Muslim family of fourteen children and is from Bachita in Edu Local Government in Kwara state.
Contrary to popular belief, Ibrahim Chatta is of Tapa descent rather than Yoruba. Ibrahim Abiodun Chatta was raised in a polygamist family with three wives.

His mother is from Osun state’s Modakeke. He holds his mother in high regard and considers her to be one of his greatest influences in life, as she saw the best in him and continued to push and motivate him to strive for the best, even in the most difficult times of his life.

He has indicated that she is responsible for the majority of his success stories. Unfortunately, she passed away recently after battling diabetes for 25 years.

Ibrahim Chatta lost interest in schooling as a child due to his unruly and defiant demeanour, which caused him to drop out of secondary school.

He completed his basic education at Bachita’s St. Bridges Catholic Basic School. He successfully obtained his first school leaving certificate and enrolled in the Government Secondary School in Bachita, but he was later sent to another region in Niger state due to his difficult behaviour.

Ibrahim Chatta attended Dende Secondary School in Aggeia before dropping out.

There have been rumors that he is self-educating and taking online classes.

Despite her scant schooling, Chatta speaks English proficiently, much to the astonishment of many.

He also expressed his wish to return to the educational field in 2018, having previously expressed remorse over losing out on formal education as a child, despite his father’s efforts to ensure he was formally schooled.

Even though little is known about his efforts in imposing his choice, Chatta indicated in a 2020 interview that he was enrolled in an institution of education in Ikire, Osun State.

He has also joked about becoming a professor before he dies, and he has pushed individuals to gain an education before embarking on any chosen career in life.

Then, on December 30, 2012, he married Salamatu Mohammed Lafiaji, the daughter of former Kwara State Governor Senator Sheaba Lafiaji.

The marriage also encountered a snag, and the pair split after Salamatu disclosed that Ibrahim Chatta was a womanizer and a gold digger, saying that he was also a woman bèater and that she miscarried as a result of the beatings she received from him.

Ibrahim Chatta refuted the charges, claiming that Salamatu had no feelings for him and had long since lost interest in the relationship.
