Born on April 21, 1970, in Ediba, Cross River State, Nigeria, Shan holds a unique heritage as the daughter of an Igbo mother and a British father. Her early step into the arts began with a role in the 1997 soap opera “Winds of Destiny,” which paved the way for her debut in the movie “Thorns of Rose.” Shan’s education in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos not only honed her communication skills but also fueled her passion for storytelling, leading her to produce her debut movie “All For Winnie” during her final year.
Despite facing challenges in her personal life, including multiple marriages starting from the young age of 16, Shan’s resilience shines through her work and family life as a proud mother of two children.
Shan George’s contributions to Nollywood are manifold; she has been a trailblazer in both English and local language films, with notable performances in “Outkast” and “Welcome to Nollywood.”
Her directorial skill was recognized with nominations for Best Director at the Cross River Nollywood Awards (CRINA) in 2014, and she has also been honored with awards such as the Most Acclaimed Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). Beyond the screen, Shan’s legacy extends to nurturing future talent through her tuition free film school, Divine Shield Film Academy in Calabar, Nigeria.
