“I’m very proud of how far afrobeats has gone right. I saw Rema in New York and I hugged him and I was like “I’m very proud of you.” I remember when Rema used to come over to my house, like with the prints back then and just like chilling quitely in my living room. He didn’t say a word, not knowing that he’s going to have the highest charting afrobeats song ever. Rema’s “Calm Down” till today remains a great achievement for afrobeats. Rema was just a kid from Benin with a big dream and if you see how he has gone so far, you’ll just believe that he’s blessed. There’s a lot of põverty in my country and one of the avenues for people to escape that is music. Afrobeats is a source of lively to millions of Nigerians and people from all over Africa. We’re happy that Nigeria is leading in African entertainment and using it to help eradîcate põverty.”
