We need to control afrobeats so that nobody else will come in and claim it but at the same acknowledge the foundation others laid.

“We built afrobeats and have taken it to where it is so far. But we need to have control over afrobeats. You can never do anything alone, you also need a helping hand from other people and other cultures and that’s what we’ve done. We have to comtrol it so that nobody else can come in and claim it. All of us doing afrobeats today are just enjoying the foundation those who came before us laid and at the same time laying a foundation for next generation.”

In everything there must be evolution. But every artist stands tall today because of the foundation those who came before us laid. Those who came before us couldn’t achieve as much because they had to put their careers on the line for the next generation.
