In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, a nice guy planned something sweet. Griffin planned a great marriage proposal. He skydived into a position where he would land right in front of his girlfriend at their usual coffee spot during lunch. He pulled out a beautiful ring. He proposed to Blair and she was about to give him an answer when his parachute got caught in a car door.
It got caught in the door of a fleeing bank robber. The other guy was trying to make his escape. He didn’t care to check for people who might get hurt because hey he already robbed a bank at gunpoint. And so his car started to drag Griffin for a couple of blocks until police ultimately forced him into crashing his getaway car.
They got to Griffin in time. They also got medical attention for the bank robber. Then Blair came screaming down the block after Griffin and she finally accepted his marriage proposal as he was being loaded into the ambulance, but Blair admitted to the firefighters that she wasn’t going to marry him. She loves him. She just doesn’t think she wants marriage. She also didn’t want to scare Griffin by turning down his proposal after he jumped off a building for her. Blair planned on waiting a couple of months before telling him that she couldn’t marry him.
All of which she admitted to the firefighters. They asked her if she wanted to go with him in the ambulance and she basically told her life story. Only the thing she said about it could potentially scar a guy if his marriage proposal had been turned down had gotten though to Chimney. Chimney realized him losing the ring was a sign from God. He wasn’t going to propose because he thought the universe was warning him that Maddie wouldn’t say yes. That she would be like Blair. Unable to say no even if that was her deepest wish to do so.
Chimney told all of his friends that the proposal was off the table. He never brought it up with Maddie and so that’s when Maddie ended up finding the ring. Chimney hadn’t lost it after all. His toddler daughter had taken it. She probably thought it was a toy because that’s how she treated it. She put it in her doll house. Maddie was cleaning up after Jee-Yun when she found the ring. She hadn’t known what to do about the ring. She knew that Jee-Yun was playing with it and that Chimney was most likely looking for it.
