The Last Thing He Told Me Season 1 Episode 5 – The Never Dry

Bailey refuses to leave Austin until she finds out the truth.

In episode four of The Last Thing He Told Me, titled “Witness to Your Life,” Hannah (Jennifer Garner) and Bailey (Angourie Rice) continue their amateur sleuthing in Austin, Texas.

They hope to uncover Owen’s real name and previous identity, which may lead to further clues. US Marshal Grady (Augusto Aguilera) restarts his own investigation after a confusing phone call with Hannah, and the wife’s friends Jules (Aisha Tyler) and Jake (Geoff Stults) continue to assist in the ongoing search for Owen.

This episode brings relevance and tension back to the mystery but is plagued by jarring flashbacks. Here’s what happened The Last Thing He Told Me Season 1, Episode 4:

• Hannah and Bailey discuss the shocking revelation that Owen changed his name and his daughter’s, wiping their old records in the process. Bailey feels lost and unsure of her own identity.
• They decide to keep hunting for more clues in Texas. Hannah suggests recalling stories Owen has told before. There must be some truth in these tales. They remember his old Professor Tobias Cookman and find his details online. He is a Professor at the University of Texas.
• Hannah calls Grady for answers, but he doesn’t give her the whole story. He thinks Owen might have wiped his own history. Hannah refuses to give away her location and hangs up.
• Jules calls about the key she found; it is used to open a fire-proof safe. Hannah asks Jules to collect her duffel bag. Jules finds the bag is missing.
• Grady is ordered to stop his investigation into Hannah by his boss. His team finds Hannah’s flight details.
• At the University, Hannah and Bailey crash Tobias’ lecture. He doesn’t recognize Owen but remembers an awful student from his first few years of teaching. They raid the university’s records.
• Jules and Jake argue about Hannah’s secrets. She admits that Hannah had a bag full of money. Jake worries Hannah may be charged for her mistakes.
• Tobias remembers Owen blaming his poor exam results on a woman he loved. Bailey thinks this could be her mother, Olivia. They decide to look through the yearbook photos instead.
• Hannah tells Jules to check her studio for the hidden safe.
• Elenor from the church calls. She has found the wedding they were after. It involved Andrea Reyes and Charlie Smith. Bailey finds a Katherine Smith in the records. Her photograph looks like Olivia, her mom.
