IGP Orders Police To Arrest Seun Kuti For Allegedly Assaulting An Officer
Oluseun Anikulapo Kuti, the youngest son of legendary Afrobeat singer Fela Kuti popularly known as Seun Kuti has been taken into police custody on orders of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
This incident took place on Saturday 13th of May 2023 as the singer was caught on camera dishing out slaps to the officer on duty and thereafter appeared on his Instagram story to explain the reason behind his unruly action.
Even though he claimed the officer was at fault, he said, “He tried to kill me and my family. Have the proof but I no dey chase clout”, the IGP has ordered the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Omohunwa to arrest the artist and commence investigations into the cause of the incident and as such a statement was issued.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.
“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.”
