“There was a time when no matter how talented and hardworking African artist were, we couldn’t blow up globally. You had to be lightskinned so the world could see you. Alot of people had pictures of artist like Chris Brown on their walls but you could rarely see that of African artist. We weren’t popping and we were being called all types of names in the Western World. It wasn’t a proud thing to be an African at that time. But now we’re all over the globe and American artist are the ones begging us for collaborations now.” Burna Boy
